Hello,
Just diagnosed last week -
52 years old.
Initial PSA Late June 2014 = 11.7;
Late August before biopsy=
PSA ng/mL 10.18
FREE PSA 1.52
FREE PSA (% OF TOTAL) 14.93
3T MRI with coil; findings:
Prostate volume: 36 cc.
Large anterior mass highly suspicious for malignancy (Likert 5) in the right base and mid anterior gland, crossing the midline, with findings worrisome for invasion of the anterior fibromuscular stroma and probable extracapsular extension. MRI stage T3a.
The rest of the gland reported to appear clear, but . . .
MRI guided biopsy results:
- Right mid, GS 4+3=7, one of
two cores, 25% volume
- Right apex, GS 3+3=6, one of
two cores, 25% volume
- Left mid, GS 3+3=6, two of two cores, 5% volume
- Left apex, Gleason score 3+3=6, two of
two cores, 5% volume
Lesion #1 right base anterior,
GS 3+4=7, three
of three cores, 50% volume
Directed to get a bone scan and will do so this week. RP ordered for the end of September after healed from the biopsy.
It's alot of cancer and am just trying to get my bearings. If bone scan is clear am I in the clear for it spreading or is there no way to know yet?
I'm confident in my doctor and the hospital and they are well respected in the field from what I read.
I'm looking for insight from those of you that have been through this - I've lots of choices to make pretty soon it appears.
Thanks
