This is NOW the GFMPH Thread - 09/14 - now a great memory

Thanks for the kind words of support everyone. There were a lot of arrangements to make after Bob's passing.

As it turns out, all will work out in time and we're on for our trip as planned. We should arrive late Thursday afternoon, enjoying a wonderful road trip and time with old and new friends!

Darn it all, we won't be getting in till Friday and will be missing that authentic Cajun food; but if the rumors ring true, it will be just one of many great meals that weekend!

Jerry and Connie, it will be great to see you both again, and I'm sure Bob will be smiling down on us all, and enjoy from a great vantage point, the good time we're sure to be having.

Peter, I expect that we'll (Wendy and I) will be passing by the airport at just about noon on Friday and we would be honored to pick you up and have you escort us to our first Rochester GFMPH!. I only have one minor obstacle to clear, and am pretty confident that by this time tomorrow, it will be a GO! Drop me an e-mail and we can share contact information and coordinate the details.

It's gonna be real difficult concentrating at work these next few days, knowing that some of you are already partying!

Cajun sounds great but we won't arrive at Rochester airport until 11:00 pm Thursday night. I wonder if the fire will still be going? It's a short trip for us as we have to leave on Saturday a.m. but still looking forward to our 1st GFMPH!

The fire may still be coming from our pants after some of that hot gumbo. It's a pretty late crowd, however some of them may have passed out by the time you get there.

Wow! What a beautiful morning it is here and the excitement is building as we all await for the arrival of you all! Looking forward to seeing those I have met and those I am going to meet! Great Food! Great People and Great times ahead! Fires and all...

Don't fight over me. There's plenty of me to go around. Way too much of me, actually. And if this GFMPH runs true to form there will be even more of me when it's over. At least, as far as I know there are no weddings this time. Wedding cake for breakfast is lovely but decidedly not on my low-carb diet.

I will cheerfully be picked up by whichever of you finds it the most convenient. Jim, I think, knows more or less what I look like, which is a plus finding someone in an airport, but if you click the "personal home page" link under my name at the left of this message (looks like a little house) it will take you to a page with a photo of me doing my Edmond Hillary impression. I'll try to remember to wear the official "stupid looking" GFMPH Alaska hat.

So glad you guys can make it. Wouldn'a been the same without you guys to back me up on my lies about GFMPH Alaska.

We should be checking in at three on Friday at our hotel down the street from the comfort inn, if anyone needs a ride to Jeff's email me .
Friday morning I'll be singing , "On the road again" until the wife hits the volume up on the radio to drown my singing ;-)

Man, does this sound like it will be a great time.   I am super depressed that we are unable to make this one, but Lee and I will be there in spirit.   Keep us posted on all the happenings and we wish everyone a great time.

I'm at Mayo clinic in Rochester, Mn for monthly appointments. May be driving straight from here to the airport when all done. Then off to Rochester, NY for GFMPH!
While I'm waiting here, I just looked up my online lab results from this morning - just pulled another 0!!! (<0.10)

Cajun night was a great success. Chef Perry made the most amazing Jambalaya, I threw together a pot of Chicken, Taso, and Andouille Gumbo. White beans to go with the Jambalaya fixed by Mama Pat and for desert Mz Goodlife made Pumpkin Bars.

For Dinner we had 32 people enjoying the festivities. After dinner all gathered around the fire pit till about 10:30.

The 10 official GFMPH. is underway. To think this started with 3 guys thinking it would be a good thing to meet face to face. By the end of today (Friday) we will be 50 people here.

Thanks to all of you for making this such a meaningful event and especially Worried Guy and his Saint of a wife for opening their home to all these strangers.

There are not many left overs. Cajun Jeff and Perry worked out the servings perfectly - like they'd been doing it for years.
We had a gorgeous night with a dark, moonless sky so a few of us cold star gaze and see the Andromeda Galaxy through binoculars. It is awesome to think that those photons had been traveling through space for 2.5 million years and finally landed right here on top of all of us.
Tonight will be seafood night with clams, tilapia, scallops, corn. potatoes, +, prepared by chefs Radio Jeff and Lori. They brought a smoker large enough to raise sea levels in Bangladesh. Can't wait.
