Last Monday morning I started urinating every 15 minutes with very small volume and noticed a burning sensation at the end of the stream. I thought that maybe I was ingesting too many acidic drinks. about an hour after lunch while I was working, I suddenly doubled over in pain. It came on in waves and by that evening I called my Uro. He told me that it sounds like a kidney stone but because of the prostatectomy, I should go to the ER.
Eight hours later, after the standard tests including a CT scan, the ER doc came back with the verdict: a 3 mm stone. They sent me home with hydrocodone and some Flomax. I passed the stone the next day and was back to normal as quickly as I was in pain the day before.
I only relate this story because my medical history is what actually sent me to the ER. Frankly, I don't which was worse; the pain or the 8 hours in the ER.
