The doctor that did my AUS is a urologist that specializes in bladder issues for men and women. He does slings and AUS surgeries. I went in to talk to him about
a sling and walked out of his office 30 minutes later with a surgery date for an AUS.
He said why would you want to go through surgery for something that has a 60% effective rate. Why not go for the "Gold Standard" that is 90%+ effective and takes the same length of time to install. He said he would do the sling but judging by my age, size and physical ability, he would recommend the AUS.
I haven't heard of anyone who wasn't happy with an AUS. None of us were crazy about
the idea of a controller installed in our scrotum to pee but you get used to it very quickly. The main thing is IT WORKS!
You had your RP one month before me, we are about
the same age, why wait any longer.
I would talk to a bladder urologist, even if it is out of town. The surgery is out patient and your personal urologist can activate it for you 6 weeks later. I understand the recovery time for a "twofer "surgery is harder and longer to recover from but if that is what you want, cost is about
the same.
