Seeing pink, slightly OT, but is ODOT an issue with breast cancer?

Just curious if anyone has background on this. It came to me recently, seeing the pink e.v.e.r.y.t.h.i.n.g. one does in October, regarding parallels to PCa. (Pink pizza boxes, for crying out loud.)

Anyway, do breast cancer diagnostics have a similar possibility of detecting versions that would not be a problem? Are there types that left undetected would never become life threatening? Is it likely a woman would die with it rather than from it? Or, is it such that if detected it absolutely must be treated?

No interest in reigniting this discussion about PCa, but really wondering if there is a parallel issue in breast cancer.

Yes, definitely, which is why there is so much controversy about mammograms. The same over screening for small cancers that weren't every going anywhere occurs with breast cancer, which should, like prostate cancer, also be divided into different diseases.
I hate pink and the whole pink is for happy survivors who "fought" and won nonsense. There is a good documentary called Pink Ribbon Inc that exposes the whole business of pink.

There is DCIS (ductal carcinoma in situ). It has not spread outside the ducts. The medical community says that much DCIS will never become a life-threatening issue. The problem is they can't tell which will become a life-threatening issue and which won't. So they usually advise surgery and radiation, but no chemo. They think that if left untreated many would die with it.
