I'm at the hospital waiting for my bone scan. I walked in went down to the nuclear imagiong dept and it hit me like a ton of bricks

I was posting on here whilst waiting for my scan. The scan itself is pretty spooky, in as much the room and machine were so silent. Nothing like the MRI scan that I had. I thought that darn machine was going to explode!

You are probably finding this out now, but before the scan I had to have the "highlight" injection, then wait for three hours before the scan could be done. Also I was told to drink at least 1ltr of fluids during that time, not sure why though.

Good luck with your scan, and make sure you take your iPhone out of your pocket beforehand.

Well at least you have had, even if it is unofficial, that things look good. Worst ways you will find out later today. My hunch is that you will be fine, so relax and go see your client.

Over here the technicians are not allowed to say anything and I will have to wait at least two weeks for the results! I think that I would rather be you right now.

I think the advice to take your time and do your due diligence is great advice. When I was first diagnosed my doctor was very quick to schedule and get it done. I told no one but my wife at first. Too many people giving their advice gets confusing. I scheduled ahout 2 months out but I started pursuing options. I soon canceled surgery just because I didn't like that hanging over me. I visited different doctors and looked into different treatments. Ended up finding a wonderful doctor and had all the testing and treatment which made me feel confident.

Followup note: the first doctor I saw has now announced he is leaving the practice at end of year and moving out of state. I tell people all the time that you are not obligated to stick with the first doctor you see and you do not need to do what he suggests. Shop around and do your due diligence

I remember being worried to death. But, knowing what I know now:

There is a HUGE 99%+ chance that the scans will be negative.

In fact, I don't recall anyone on HW with a low PSA as in your case ever having a positive scan

mel, I know the odds are in my favor. But I keep thinking the odds where in my favor to not get a Gleason 8 too.

Well that is the difference between Our free health care and yours that is private. Unfortunately there is a price to pay.

You have to remember that this has been going on for almost a year now. I was refereed by my doc in December last year and did not get to see the consultant until June this year. I was not happy with that consultant or hospital, so changed to the one I am with now. So much has been done now in short space of time, but this past 12 months have been a crazy trip for me.
