I am a patient at Kaiser – Roseville, and so far they have answered all my questions and I feel good that I will be able to make a treatment decision soon. My urologist (surgeon) recommended surgery buy also discussed radiation as an option. When I asked more questions he referred me to a Kaiser Brachytherapy class, which I attended. I am planning on attending a support group this week and meeting a Kaiser Radiation Oncologist on Monday. Then, I will make a decision on which treatment is right for me.
My Urologist, Scott Troxel, is the Assistant Chief at Kaiser Roseville. I sent him email questions the last couple days, including questions about
his experience conducting PC surgery. He did not hesitate to tell me he has done more than 350 laparoscopic and robotic prostatectomies and his surgical margin rate is amongst the lowest in northern California robotics at Kaiser. He also shared some opinions about
how my incontinence and ED results might be.
During my research I came across some doctors who had conducted more than 1,000 PC surgeries, so I had hoped for those types of numbers, but I am feeling pretty good about
Dr. Troxel since he quickly and completely answered my questions.
Good luck with your surgery. Sorry I did not have much advise for you about
navigating Kaiser.
