Cathy, That is good news to have your husband home but yes, the swelling is concerning. Wednesday is 3 sleeps away (as my granddaughter looks at things!) so hopefully you'll get some resolution.
Thanksgiving...husband and I never thought we would be celebrating with our family in 2014! There was never any time frame put on him so it seems he just kept moving ahead. You and your husband have been through so much more and I am happy for you both that you'll be with family celebrating what to me has become the best of holidays.
Kristy, ok good news - some side effects from chemo are resolving. Starting withdrawal from prednisone - that messes with his mood...I'll put it that way. Getting ready for Thanksgiving so keeping busy, keeping busy, keeping busy. It works for me.
I've been thinking about
you & Paul - your hopes for some travel in your future and having some good times just being a normal couple. I join you in that - you deserve it.
Sal, I know that things have been really rough for you - not only the constant worry for Ted but all of the changes you've been through recently. The move from a place you love, the adjustment to new surroundings, the difficulty in making new friends and cherry on the cake...the disappointment in Vanderbilt and finding new medical care for Ted. Now thats a full plate in even the best of situations! I can only say you are thought of and good wishes are sent your way. I wish there was more we could do. I do like Kristy's idea for a wives gathering - now THAT would be a major feat!
Fnp256, So as you can see by now there is support here. I look at this thread as a small community within a big city. And I'm glad it's small. Sigh...you actually are handling things pretty well. If you had imagined this happening before the reality of it, I bet you thought you would totally fall apart. Normal. But you haven't cause when you completely fall apart it will be different. So, go easy on yourself, it's ok to cry, vent and be pretty pissed off. This is not a walk in the park in this little community we have here. BUT you do have others who have been here before you, you do have strength to draw upon and we're
open 24/7 - just like Walmart but better.
Hang in there.
Beejane - First of all I have to say your husbands stats look great and I wish you and your husband a future full of 0.01's!
I have to comment on your Rant because I appreciated your comments about
this being a disease. I too, am weary of hearing about
the battle, the war, the journey - no offense meant to anyone at all, really. My husband said a long time ago (and we go over it every so often) that ultimately these decisions are his and I will respect his wishes. Only he will know when he's ready. I saw my brother through his leaving and was at peace that I made sure his wishes were carried out. It would be a travesty for anyone to say "he gave up the battle" when in reality he gave everything he had. Ok, Rant Over.
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving Beejane,
Susan
