I knew that MEL, or at least figured it. Appointment is at 11AM.

If they tell me report says G6, negative marhins, no ECE , etc, I don't think I even want yo see the actual report. Sort of like, leave well enough alone. But if course, I'm not built that way, I will ask for it.
My doc starts Cialis within a few days of cath coming out. Of course I'll have to get pre authorization which will take a few days, but it's pretty much an automatic. I Had called a few weeks ago, they said I am covered for 22 pills every, I think 6 weeks. And it can be 5mg, 10mg or 20 mg. so I might ask him to prescribe the higher dosage and cut them in half.
Also, part of my docs protocol, is the day before the cath removal I start Cipro for two weeks and Flomax for, I believe , a week. I started today. I understand the Cipro, I guess you can be subject yo infection when cath is removed. But does anyone know the reason for Flomax?

I can't wait to throw away every gauze pad, every tube of lidocaine, every alcohol soaked wipe, and everything in my house that I needed to get me thru the catheter period. I'm gonna have a ceremony at the garbage can.

Garbage can ceremony is a great idea! I would have loved to burn mine, but it stayed at the Urologist's office. Perhaps I can burn a bit of plastic tubing from the home improvement store in effigy!

I strongly suspect that Dr. Tewari has already seen the pathology report and the fact that he hasn't called you seems like good news. Good luck tomorrow. A big step back towards "normal".

Pratoman, HaHaHa..... Yes, I agree. However, I believe that you are in New York City and I live near Santa Rosa, California. Even though we can not stand around the same trash can, we can each offer up our burnt offerings for the benefit of both of us and our brethren here on HW. One small problem.... around here all the trash cans are plastic, not the old galvanized steel ones; will have to use a bucket. The catheter was a pain and I am so grateful that I never stepped on it etc and I am very happy to see it gone.

I am wishing you all the best in your recovery. Not to brag, but my UI is down to a few drops here and there, only 1 thin pad a day! 'Here is to hoping that you will have the same or better experience! Not only do I have control, I am pissing like a college kid after a couple of beers! I am back to work (engineering desk job) on Monday if I can get the California State disability administrators off my back....

Is 4:30 AM. WOKE UP AT 4:05, looked at the clock, and said to myself, well, this is one day that I won't be able to fall back asleep. And here i am, 25 minutes later. Boy did I screw with myself.

Also the last day waking up with my catheter bag, and the first day I woke up to see it full of actual clear yellow piss, rather than a bad imitation of cranberry juice. How ironic.

As you surgery guys know, when the cath comes out they make you drink then they make you pee and get your bladder down to a fairly empty state before you can go home. it took me 4 hours. I drank too much.

When the cath came out, after filling my bladder with water, they had me get off the table and piss out the water in a urinal bowl. It came out immediately and I found I was able to stop and Start the flow, at will. This made me feel like my chances of quick continence are good. But then I drank, and walked around a lot with a depends brief on. I didn't even realize I was leaking until about an hour later when I felt my sweatpants and they were soaking wet. I took off the pad, if was heavy (and bloody). Thank goodness I thought to bring an extra. I put a guard in it as well.
Anyway, when I got home, about a one hour drive, so I was wearing the pad/guard for about 2-3 hours, it was pretty wet, but not as soaked as the first one got.

So I hope that's a good sign, but we'll see

Path report in the nex post

I was thinking of whether to send the surgical specimens to Epstein at JH for second opinion. But I asked about the pathologist that did the work, and was told he is very skilled and does nothing but Prostate cells. So I think I will take what I believe is a good report and leave it at that.

PA told me not to do Kegel exercoses for three days then to start. But that it's ok to Kegel in stress situations, ie, coughing, getting out of car, etc. I guess that's what you mean Patrick. Thanks I will try that
