Finally got started with my SRT. My PSA climbed to .3 over 1 1/2 years
I am 10 treatments in of 38 so far no big deal. I keep being told that this machine is like as state of the art as you can get. Am I being bullcrapted??

I remember reading about
these systems a few years ago. My recollection is there is a higher dosage delivered with less time. The advantage is less opportunity of patient movement, since delivery time is reduced. The advantage for the facility is better utilization of the equipment.

No bull. It is top of the line.
Scan before every session, solution planned, ok'd by radiologist, and then zapped.
You should have few side effects.

Yup, fancy stuff. Looks like it's in the Varian RapidArc line of products:

Truebeam is their Ferrari - fastest linac Varian makes, as far as I know. Your treatments should be under 10 minutes each if you don't move too much.

I had true beam from Varian as well. Fast and I believe (hope) effective. No B S here from what I can tell. At least we gave it our best shot with the best technology! No guarantees though since this Cancer has a mind of its own.
Good luck to both of us!

My primary treatment was radiation done with the Varian. This was in 2008 and at the time was the best on the market. Only upgrade since then has been the addition of the RapidArc to the machine which takes even less time than the TrueBeam. I had mild diarreha and some urinary issues near the end of the treatment and have had no lingering side effects since.
Good luck with your treatment.
