Bluebird,
my next dinner will be from Snuffy's book!
I have juicer and vitamix too. :) I started with juicing but hated how the fiber was all removed. The first time i tried the vitamix, i just threw stuff in. including carrots and tomato. EWW, the sludge that came out was uneatable! eventually i tried it again with a recipe, and it was delicious. I eventually learned a formula for smoothies that doesn't require a recipe. I make a variation of it every day, using whatever I have in fridge. makes 2 large smoothies. if there's too much i put it in a plastic cup and freeze it.
I don't measure so amounts are approximate
1/2 inch peeled ginger
big squeeze of fresh lemon or lime juice
2 - 3 cups packed greens. combination in any proportion, kale, spinach, broccoli, collards, wheatgrass, or whatever you like.
sometimes i add a little cauliflower
handful of cilantro or parsley
1/3 cucumber, or a celery stalk
1 cup liquid: water, cold green tea, almond milk, etc or a mixture
1 Tablespoon of hemp, ground flax, chia, or whatever you'd like
1/2 cup or more frozen berries, or red grapes
1 very ripe banana
sometimes a kiwi
sometimes half an avocado - makes it wonderfully creamy
sometimes fresh frozen cranberries
sometimes an apple, pear, or orange (cored) and coarsely chopped
sometimes 1 teaspoon super green powder (just to be healthy since it is too strong flavored for me)
I put a couple grape tomatoes in once and it reminded me of v8. which i don't like. but my husband loved it.
(editted to remove maca as I'm now concerned it may be bad for PCa)
