Hi all ...

I just got back from the Dr in LA; and he had good news for me.

I'd finished the chemo in December, and weathered it well ... wiped out by the end, but recovering. Also had my nails start peeling off of the bed slightly (1/3 or so) and some neuropathy in my right foot. Both hopefully will go away within a few months when i get my hair back.

Since i've been pulling <0.01 on my PSA for the last 3 months and if that holds, the good Dr is recommending that i go off of the hormone therapy this coming Fall. Woohoo! Got to start a countdown clock ... hoping this is a 'durable remission' ... Starting Metformin as well to keep the good times rolling.

thanks to everyone here, especially Zufus, Tony, TallAllen, Sonny, KayakBob, WorriedGuy and many more who've encouraged me through the last 2 1/2 years.

Congrats Ray.

On the Metformin, there is a Metformin Extended Release that might help on the urgency it causes.

Dr. Snuffy Myers recommends a total of 2000 Mg but you may want to phase into it with 500 Mg in morning and another 500 Mg in evening, and as your body adjusts add the other 500's.

Hope the snow lightens up enough that you and Connie can attend GFMPH Baton Rouge the week of April 15.

That is one spectacular response. Nail and neuropathy problems should be temporary. It'd be nice to have that well-earned vacation. Please get in touch if you come out to LA again.

Fantastic ! Have not heard a lot since last GFMPH. But this post makes up for a lot.

So pleased to hear the progress. I take little tidbits from each of you guys and file it away in my potential future treatments file. I am indeed blessed to be living in this era. So many new developments, treatment options, and success stories happening.

Hello and Good Evening,
So, I am brand new to this forum. So, here I go.....
My Father has just been diagnosed with Prostate Cancer and I am his caregiver. I am actually not in shock as much as utter disbelief! Why? well, please allow me to vent a little. October 2014 my mother presented with some neurological symptoms and I thought she was having a stroke so I rushed her to the ER. Thirty minutes later a Dr. is telling me that they had found brain tumors that are swelling. Rushed to MUSC and found out that my mother at 67 has Stage 4 NSCLC (Adenocarcinoma of the lung) which has spread to her brain, both lungs and her upper right thigh. So, I just got my brain put back together and yesterday found out this about my Dad. My parents have never been ill and in fact few Dr. visits that I can remember. Any suggestions from others dealing with something similar to my Dad's results would be helpful! What should I expect?
