Jim has just started his second round of Enzalutamide monotherapy (no lupron to confuse the SEs)
It seems to be hitting him harder this year than it did last year. Fatigue at times, sore muscles, restless leg syndrome at bedtime. But the worst is a feeling of weakness mostly when shopping with wife!
He still prefers this to the lupron though. With the new trial now recruiting--Safety and Efficacy Study of Enzalutamide Plus Leuprolide in Patients With Nonmetastatic Prostate Cancer (EMBARK)
/clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT02319837 --we may get a clearer picture of the SEs of enza alone.
Interesting "SE" of the enza monotherapy is RISING TESTOSTERONE while the PSA plummets for guys like Jim who are still hormone naive and not yet castrate resistant. Tall Allen was just mentioning Bipolar Androgen Therapy in another thread possibly preventing castrate resistance in some guys. Makes me think about
buying stock in Medivation.?
I hope some guys with rising PSA after treatment take a look at this trial. It could be a game changer for giving Enza rather than Lupron.
Moyad and Scholz think so... Short-term enzalutamide treatment for the potential remission of active surveillance or intermediate-risk prostate cancer: a case study, review, and the need for a clinical trial
