Have you been Dx'd with mets now? I'm sorry to hear that.
The theory is that the prostate is the main source of mets, so that debulking/cytoreduction can slow it down, but not cure it, obviously. There is evidence from retrospective case-control studies that it might provide a survival benefit, but there haven't been any prospective randomized clinical trials yet that would prove a benefit.
You can accomplish the same thing with surgery or radiation, especially a combo-therapy like JNF described. It seems unnecessary to go through the ordeal of surgery and the urinary incontinence associated with surgery if you can accomplish the same slowing down with radiation.
