If your PSA doubles in a short period of time you are getting closer to a recurrence (.2) which is a bad thing indeed.

We want the doubling time increased so it takes longer for the PSA to reach .2.

Well, yeah, I realize that. But LOGO... said that "The correct meaning of increasing doubling time is to increase the rate at which the psa doubles, not the reverse." How could doubling time mean the reverse..namely decrease the rate at which PSA doubles..you it can't double AND decrease.

....and if PSA is 1 and goes to 2 in one year, the doubling time is 1 year, right? If the PSA then goes to 4 from 2 in 4 years...the doubling time is then 4 years. The increased doubling time does not show an increase in velocity of the psa rise , but rather a decrease.

Had my appointment with Dr. Myers on 3/11/15. PSA had another slight increase from .044 to .053 since Nov. 2014 test. The good doctor said my doubling time is 10 months. Dr. Myers pointed out pathology report indicated cancer bordering surgical margin which may or may not be reason for rise in PSA. In any case, I'm trying the Metformin/Avodart treatment option. Dr. Myers has me on monthly blood test and indicated I have a good prognosis. Worse case scenario, if PSA continues to rise I will have a type of rectal MRI that lights up remaining cancer cells within the prostate bed. My experience with Dr. Myers was nothing short of fantastic. I'll keep the brotherhood posted on my results. If successful others may wish to follow the same path.
