In the past several months I have been having some numbness and tingling in my feet. In researching neuropathy, I found several references to possible side effects of radiation.
I had IGRT about
3 years, and have had minimal side effects that I know of. I have never heard anyone on HW talk about
Neuropathy. So I thought I would post and ask the question.
Do any of you who had radiation therapy have any neuropathy symptoms ? More specifically, do you have numbness and tingling in your feet ? It is a common side effect of Diabetes, which I do not have, but some of you may have neuropathy from diabetes.
Just a question that I thought was interesting. Have never heard of neuropathy as a side effect.

Yes, big time. Much of my perm. chronic pain is being attributed to neuropathy as a direct result of the SRT. I do get numbing and tingling in toes, feet, fingers, face, and they can migrate from place to place.
Thus far, none of the normal prescript
ion meds for nerve pain work - for me at least.
Good luck, have seen 3 neuros over the past, and all indicated that it can be difficult to track down and treat.

I do not have radiation induced neuropathy.
I do remember reading an article concerning radiation induced neuropathy. (I believe it was addressing women treated for breast cancer?). I was looking for articles on antioxidants and Cancer. I believe the article concluded that antioxidants helped relieve the symptoms of radiation induced neuropathy. You may want to Google that subject and consider some antioxidants.
Best wishes and good luck as you move forward.

I had a similar complaint - was getting numbness in my toes. Called the doc, she suggested getting a new pair of shoes and calling her back in a month.
Turns out it was a bad pair of shoes irritating a nerve.
My doc said this kind of neuropathy, while possible, isn't common (as you see here, only one out of 3 has it in my un-scientific survey). Still, best to get it checked out by the doc and maybe a good neurologist if it really is bothering you.

Goodlife, I just wanted to chime in and let you know I have it in my feet and hands at times. No radiation for me, so it could be caused by something other than SRT. Like a bad fall for instance. I am sure your Dr.s will get to the bottom of it for you.

I believe my dad had that issue. He complained of neuropathy some time after his radiation treatment. He might have had it before and the radiation aggravated it, or was the cause of it....it was 15 years ago. I remember him trying the infrared treatment on his feet...unfortunately nothing really helped at the time.

My husband has neuropathy (and has had radiation), but it was while he was on Lupron that it was the worst. He's now on Zoladex, and the neuropathy in his feet isn't as bad.

Funny you should ask!
After playing golf today I noticed numbness in three of my toes on left foot. Also I've had numbness in left pinky for months. I completed SRT 7 1/2 months ago.
Frankly I'm glad to hear others have had the problem as I was wondering what was happening!
