Next Step: Xofigo -- does he have to stay away from people?

For some reason, I can never find my old posts to update on :-( Anyhow, this one is a different topic anyways....

Dad had the radiation for the spinal cord compression - 10 treatments. Doctors ran updated Bone and CT scan and concluded the chemo worked for the lymph nodes last year and he is now a candidate for Xofigo... that starts in a couple weeks. Doctor also said to expect the PSA to rise on the treatment. Xofigo does not help the PSA (seems a bit scary since PSA is an indicator of what the pCA is doing)

One question we haven't been able to have answered yet.... does he have to stay away from the kiddos? If so, for how long?

Xofigo's website says the half-life of the drug is 11.5 days. We have two young kiddos and want to eliminate exposure in case of SE for them down the road. Does anyone know what's truly recommended?

Husband was on Xofigo and we were told that for the first 12 hours after injection that he was not to get in contact with his pets, or children (IE, sit on his lap, etc). After that time limit was up, it was okay for them to be in contact with him. Also for the first week after injection, any body excretions that were left on clothing, the clothing was to be washed separately from all other clothes. We were given those instructions by RO prior to each injection.

I started a thread "Starting Xofigo/Radium223", and tried to document all of the side effects etc, until husband was no longer a good candidate due to platelet counts.
