Hi Jim,
3216 was my first psa. I had a psa due to passing blood and a chest X-ray that was full of cancer. My pcp sort of put 2 and 2 together. It took 18 months for my psa to
Hit zero. No peaks no vallies just a long down hill run. I had one vacation 5 years ago. It lasted a year. Psa doubling time was 6 to 8 weeks. After the vacation I was refractory. Still don't know what I am going to do. Todd
One question is where to start calculating your future PSA since "Current P.S.A. <0.05"
I'll make two assumptions that treating PSA as =0.05 offsets using 8 weeks instead of 6 weeks
0.05 today
0.10 in 2 months
0.20 in 4 months
0.40 in 6 months
0.80 in 8 months
1.60 in 10 months
so looks like you could have this IHT vacation baby for about
9 months before PSA exceeds 1.0
Of course if PSA was actually PSA = 0.01 even though denoted as <0.05
0.01 today
0.02 in 2 months
0.04 in 4 months
0.08 in 6 months
0.16 in 8 months
0.32 in 10 months
0.64 in 12 months
1.28 in 14 months
But that is assuming a doubling time of 8 weeks rather than 6 weeks
So somewhere between 9 months and 13 months might be a decent guess on how long it takes you to ge to PSA >1 which is my threashold.
Unless you want to try and get your PSA >=2 to get a better C-11 Acetate or C-11 Choline scan to identify any contributing bone mets or lymph nodes, then you can add a month or two to the estimate, but the longer you wait the riskier it gets at your PSADT.
So as previous poster poses, is it worth it to add so much more risk if it is only good for a year or so of "vacation"?
