Klotz latest numbers on AS program

Bill, in some sense, I wonder the same thing you are wondering, as my final path was pretty much the same as yours (and Halberts).
But as you said it's water under the bridge. It wouldn't bother me at all if I found I could have done AS because I'm not a good fit for it psychologically (I'm certifiably insane when it comes to all matters PC RELATED)

With that said, it sounds like, and correct me if I'm wrong, your MRI mistakenly indicated a high likelihood of escape from the prostate, which by itself means, you had little choice but to treat.
So don't drive yourself nuts over this.

Also, you refer more than once, to the chance of you dying from PC. Don't even go there. The study is focused not focused on mortality, it's focused on BCR.
Meaning rise on PSA with no symptoms. The chance of that happening to guys like us (3+4) (organ confined) is like 5% in the first 5 years. And if it did happen, survival from that point averages 13 years. Your 15 year chance of prostate cancer specific survival (not counting the possibility of dying of something else) is 99% according to Han and mskcc nomograms.

So chill out my brother.

Aside from that, what I get from the study low G7, is that one would do well if the grade 4 was 10% or less.
I never asked my surgeon what the final path showed was the % of grade 4 in my (3+4), I probably should. The only thing I know was 5% of prostate involved by tumor. Which I think is good, not sure how much importance is placed on that.

I would have thought that the trans perineum biopsy was at least one improved way of getting more accurate biopsies and therefore better information so we could rely a bit more on the Gleason score. Just throwing it out there. i have spoken to two Dr's who both claim that the trans perineum biopsy is more accurate and reaches part of the prostate the regular biopsy doesn't reach. Is this something we should be pushing for or just another medical procedure that doesn't live up to the billing.
Would appreciate any of your learned (or otherwise) thoughts on this.
