JetShack - Post Op Follow up

Thought I would post a follow up.

Refresher:
42 years old teacher / coach. went in for yearly physical. blood work PSA came back high (forget exactly 7 or 13). Took antibiotics. Retested blood work. PSA came back higher (forget if it was 13 or 21). Had biopsy. Biopsy showed 5 bad cores. Told oncologist I didn't really like my urologist. He referred me to OU's Stephenson Cancer Clinic. New urologist was the awesome sauce. Managed to get me approved for a medical trial by bumping me up to stage 3 even though by the book i think i was still 2.

New info:
was not put into the chemo first arm. was put into the surgery only arm. Insurance covered everything. Had the Davinci surgery 13 days ago. Prostate removed and surrounding lymph nodes removed. Biopsies of those came back negative.

Was able to go back to work on day 6 (it was a professional day, kids weren't in school). catheter out on day 10. have walked at least 5 miles each of the last 3 days. Doctor cleared to lift up to 25 pounds, so can pick up the 3 month old when he's in his bucket. All in all I don't feel nearly as bad as I thought I was going to.

Things I'm finding interesting...
learning how to pee again. it's bizarre.
chair selection when sitting. MUCH more important now. (I like standing more than sitting)
i still don't have feeling back in half of my tongue from the intubation.

I think that's all the info I have.

I would like to say that I found the information and responses to my questions here to be amazingly helpful. Also I wholeheartedly endorse the OU Stephenson's Cancer Center in Oklahoma City. Absolutely amazing facility and staff.

My original intention on day 6 was just to run in and turn in some paperwork. But once i got to work I had to stand in a line for 2 hours... so at that point, it was only going to be a 4 hour day anyway so I just stayed.

I specifically asked my doctor if i was good to pick the little one up and he said yes. "in the bucket?" "yes, but be easy with it."

jetshack, welcome to the other side. Ok, I have to ask..any stirrings down below when you catch your wife coming out the shower?
