Getting closer!! The day after activation, I stood all day in line serving T-Day meals!! It works!!

Paul,

You're almost there now! This was the hardest stretch when I got my AUS - that final 1-2 weeks before activation. The pain was gone and the healing was almost done and nothing left but the waiting. I was tempted to try the activation myself before my urologist did it, just to see what happened. But then I thought about it again and wondered what I'd do if I screwed it up. It would have been embarrassing to call my urologist and cry, "Help! I couldn't wait!" But I'm glad I waited because my activated AUS has been better than I ever expected. I thought I was never going to be even somewhat dry again.

Hope you post an update after you've been activated and let us know how it's working for you!

Well not counting today it's 9 more days until activation...I am doing ok, but still sore...below my balls hurt on occasion and the upper insiscion has constantly been a pain. I am doing good, for the most part, about not doing much, not sitting on anything hard, mowing the lawn, lifting more than 5 lbs, etc...although I have ha d a few days that have been tough.

I was very challenged this weekend..drove three hours to spend the weekend relaxing at friends cabin on the lake..

Friday they flew their hot air balloon Firday night and was killing me, not to help...I am also a pilot and have two of my own balloons, and as a very hands on person when it comes to ballooning and helping crew for others was a true test of NOT Doing anything preflight, during the chase and packing up...

I did tell a few others what to do, and connected two fuel lines, and backed the trailer up once but that was it...very tough for me to do nothing...


So I sat around all weekend drinking beer and eating and watching others play, was fun and relaxing weekend, but the up and down on their stairs in and out of the cabin and deck took its toll along with the longs drive I was pretty well whipped out by yesterday...

So stil can't wait to get activated...I will let everyone knows how it goes, still a bit of fear of the unknown...

Does anyone else have a very hard and tender spot at the upper iniscion, maybe scar tissue ? Thanks talk soon.

Just received the hospital bill for surgery $41,307.10!!!

Very glad I have great insurance...my co-pay $25

Paul,

My upper incision felt the same as you described, very hard. I was sore and swollen up to the just before activation. Some of the other guys weren't as bad as I was.

I am still tender sometimes in the lower incision now, 1 year later.

Price we pay for dryness!

Paul, for a while (weeks?) after my AUS surgery, I felt a lump under the upper incision but it wasn't tender or sore. I assumed it was where the surgeon placed the reservoir for the device and that's what I was feeling. Eventually, when the swelling went down, I couldn't feel it any longer. Now even the scar is disappearing.

Bill, that asked me de elbetter that others are the same...

BillyBob...$13,212.63 is what my insurance actually paid the hospital...the amount allowed!

This stuff is sure crazy the amount that they either over charge and or the lack of the amount the insurance companies don't pay and they amounts actually written off!

I checked my bill from the hospital. It was $45,952.95 "Sticker Price" but BCBS paid $12,963.64 and I paid $2,500 deductible.

Surgeon was $4,102.40 down to $1,328.86.

Mike, thanks I am sure with time it will get better, but agrivates me pretty good now.

Bill, it's amazing how much they can and do just write off, just goes to show how much they are over charging anyways!

Just over a week to go getting excited, yet apprehensive...hope it works as advertised!

Learn from my mistake. Be sure you feel confident in squeezing the controller hard enough to open the valve. My worst fears happened, as you may recall. I didn't squeeze hard enough and ended up in the Emergency Room that evening at midnight have the AUS de-activated on activation day so I could pee. The uro who installed it showed me and he rushed through it because he had 5 patients waiting on him.

The second attempt was fine, no problems. My other uro, who dx me with PCa took his time and showed me. He had me do it 3-4 times before sending off to "dryness".

Paul, you're going to love it. It's not perfect - but for me it was a HUGE improvement over what I was going through before. You'll get used to the four steps in no time: - locate, stabilize, aim and squeeze. I don't understand why I waited as long as I did. All of us AUS guys will be rooting for you, hoping the activation meets or exceeds your expectations!

As we say down here in Florida, home of NASA space launches, "T Minus 4 days and counting". I guest you could say before blast off but it is a personal thing so I will leave that to you. Your flow may be stronger than mine. turn turn turn turn

You're beginning to feel the rumble of the engines now. Check your seat belts and pads. Be sure you have thin shields instead of those big, bulging pads. yeah

BTW, I use my shields upside down for better coverage. They are shaped like a triangle and I flip them around so the wide part is lower to stop seepage from coming out the sides of my underwear. You dribble after peeing because the valve takes a couple of minutes to fully close.

Good for you!!! Sleep commando while you can.. It's great to get up after three hours or more and pee like a race horse!!
