VED use - how long?

For post-op rehab one of the Docs wanted me on Viagra 100 mg 2x a week and to use a vacuum erection device daily. What he didn't mention was the time frame for the VED/Viagra use - is this forever or some length of time. (Yes I know I can ask him but I would like to know what others are doing.)

6 years so far. Seems like forever to me, too.

I've given up on the meds but I still use the VED.
I marked my tube with a permanent marker so I get a visual measurement every time.
With no nocturnal erections to "pump me up" skipping the VED for a week leaves me considerably smaller and requires several days to get back up to baseline.

Yikes, I thought there would be an end to this at some point although 'forever' isn't nearly as long as it would have been 30 years ago :-) .

It's been 4 years for me (along with tri-mix) and I assume I'm going to need the VED as long as I want to get an erection. Pills (Levitra and sildenafil) never worked for me; so it's the VED (and tri-mix). After 4 years, I think my total ED is permanent and is never going away. The cavenous nerves never recovered even though I had partial nerve sparing during my RALP. My surgeon had to wrestle with pulling a big prostate out of a small guy and that probably did permanent damage to those nerves. smhair

2 & 1/2 years here so far, will continue as long as necessary. Also take Cialis daily (5mg). Total ED since DaVinci RP 12/13 and starting ADT 2 weeks after. I have sensation and control but no desire or capability thus far. I shoot for every day 15 minutes as per instructions though I miss the occasional day. No T since the last hit of Eligard back in Oct of 2014, both T and PSA undetectable as of last weeks blood test. Will see how it goes in October.....

It was nearly three years for me. I only stopped when I got my implant.

If you recover some sort of natural erection -- even if it is just nocturnals -- then you can probably stop with the VED.
