TriMix Injections - Cost

Just bought my first 5ml vial of Trimix- $121 after insurance. Walgreens in PHX does not compound injectables, but referred me to Potter's House Apothecary. Urologist gave me a trial shot of 0.10 cc in the office, which produced what he estimated as "60% tumescence". He prescribed 0.15cc, but said I might need to raise(ha) or lower that after using in an actual sexual encounter. I am not too keen about sticking needles in my penis, but the pills all make me miserably ill- while not working very well! I am wondering if the Dr. injected me with 100% aprostadil, rather than the blend, as I did have the achiness described by others on this forum. Have tried it twice, and do not get results close to what I had in the office- no achiness, and no erection, either. ...At this juncture, I will up the dose by 0.05cc each time and see if I get some reaction. Blend is: 50 micrograms/L aprostadil, 30 mg/L papaverine, 1.5 mg/L phentolamine, according to label.

I am from Alabama and I have been going to the Specialty Clinic since Nov 2013. I am 59 and have had ED since I was 42. I have taken all of the ED drugs that they offer and they work for years but in the last 2 years they just don't work anymore. I heard on the radio of the clinic so I thought i would give it a try. I have great insurance but my claim was turn down. It cost me $2000 for 100 injections. I have had to tweet my dose twice. Just within the last 2 weeks I have purchase another set of injections plus I let them talk me into hormones injections because they offer me a sale on both. I paid another $2000 for 60 trimix plus the hormones injections. I had 15 injections left on the old prescription so I got 75 new injections and the hormones. My family doctor would not write me a prescription for low testosterone. I should of gone to a urologist first since I have read everybody post.

It it not too intrusive can you tell me what AD meds you were on and the dose? How long after your got off them did your ED disappear? I am on Zoloft/ 200 mg daily and it is really debilitating. I am new to trimix and am working with my md to find the right strength and dose.

Just got my first dose of tri-mix (1 3ML vial) My doctor instructed me how to start my first dosage by prescribing only .10 ml and determine if this is satisfactory and move up to .12, .13 and so on until the desired erection for the appropriate length of time is reached. I have yet to use it but I am a little nervous about storing the meds and especially during travel, which is usually by plan since it is my understanding that it has to be refrigerated at all times. Can it be out of the refrigerator for a reasonable length of time? If so, about how long before the meds are compromised?

Nothing horrible happens if it gets warm. It gradually changes into other compounds that aren't harmful but don't help with your problem. For each day out of the fridge it loses a few percent of its effectiveness. You can offset this by injecting a bit more but that screws up your dose titration. You might decide that, say, .18 ml (18 units) is the right dose for you then wind up in the emergency room when you got a new vial.

When I traveled with my trimix I used to load syringes, put the cap back over the needle and freeze them. (Freeze them needle-up with a bit of an airspace for expansion as it freezes.) Then I could pack them in a soft-side insulated lunch box with a bit of blue ice and be good for about 12 hours in transit. I always left my expensive vial back home.

I am in the Houston area. My Trimix is $98 and I buy it from a compounding pharmacy. This will get me through two months. My urologist just gives me a prescription for it. The Compounding Pharmacy does a good job and the supplies are included in the cost (syringes and alcohol wipes). My dosage just sort of depends. Most times it is about .15, but I have found that the longer it is refrigerated I may have to go up in dosage. I get two vials and keep one frozen and the other in the fridge.

A member from "Frank Talk" turned me onto this company.... "Talon Compounding Pharmacy" in San Antonio, TX

Their price for any formula of Trimix is $66 for 10ml plus $32 for overnight shipping...that's a total of $98 and is a great price for a vial of 10ml !!!!

For any Quadmix prescription the price is $77 for 10ml plus $32 shipping for a total of $109....this is great pricing !!!

This pharmacy is very easy to deal with and actually answered my emails

They will also sell in 5 ml vials for less $$$

This is by far the best place for price and customer service I have found so far...

How long does 10ml last you? The compounding pharmacy I use advised me to use up my prescription within 3 months. I was also told to store it in the freezer, take one vial out, storing it in the refrigerator so it is ready for use. I am using trimix 4. It doesn't always work. I inject 30 units.

Thanks for the quick response. What the compounding pharmacist actually said when I picked up the prescription last Monday afternoon was that the Trimix 4 expires in 45 days if kept in the freezer and 14 days if kept in the refrigerator. I think a different pharmacist told me 3 months in the refrigerator and said nothing about keeping in the freezer. That was Trimix 3. Maybe Trimix 4 has a shorter "shelf life" or something. The prescription cost $110. for 5.2 ml. It expires 9/28/2015 according to the packaging.

I bought 30 gauge, 1/2" long needles with a 50 unit capacity. The 30 gauge needle had a tendency to bend before piercing the skin. It made me nervous. I sure don't want it to break off inside my penis.

My plan is to inject at least 3 times a week. My hope is that it helps me recover some of what I lost following the surgery despite my having waited so long to do something about this. Sex? What's that? LOL!

Most any urologist can hook you up with a scrip for trimix. Without insurance you'll probably need to pay for two visits -- one to consult and one for another trial injection. Once you have the scrip trimix is fairly cheap. You have to get it at a compounding pharmacy and the vials appear pricey until you figure how many doses you get from each vial.

I'm not sure about Trimix for Travel. If you Google for it and look at the dates on the hits you get they all seem a couple of years old. If you manage to score some of it come back and let us know how it works for you. But I'd start with a bit more of a tried and true mix just to make sure you know as much as possible about how you personally react.

We have members here who buy trimix from mail order (online) pharmacies. The drugs are shipped with cold packs and seem to arrive in good shape. Again, I'd go with your local compounding pharmacy for your first vial or two then look around for a less expensive source for the long haul.
