Clomid inhibs the pituitary gland from creating something which inhibs the production of T. So this double negative ends up with the testes producing more T naturally. The dosage is carefully adjusted so that the T level falls into the normal range.
Yes, Dr. MulHall did not recommend a T supplement for me. He has a reasonable high number of PC patients on Clomid or other T therapies, including many with high risk G8 or G9 scores like myself. Of course we're carefully monitored for a rising PSA. So far in his, and other's, experience there's been no statistically significant difference in the recurrence rate for those with T therapy versus those without.
The other advantages of Clomid are that it's simple to take, one pill every other day for me, and it has very few and benign side effects, none in my case that I've noticed.
