what an experience all good except for when they pulled the jp drain tube out of my stomach, wow that's what I call extreme pain lol.

I would highly recommend an extra dose of pain meds before they do that!!

All went extremely well. my surgeon was very happy with the results.

Will get the path results next week and get the cath out ( although I think I'll miss it ;-)  )

I think I am very lucky or maybe I had a rock star?? cause it was an easy process for me, up and walking around the ward not long after getting to my room....hospital was first class all the way, and it was only 20 mins away from home :-)  beautiful Greenville south Carolina!

Welcome back. It sounds like everything went smoothly (except the JP drain), so now you can focus on healing. Take it easy and keep us informed about your progress.

Glad to see you back! I remember they told me it might take a week for pathology. I got it in 2-1/2 days. That was nice. I remember when they pulled my JP drain. I told the nurse "ok let's do it'. Then she started to tug and I felt something on the opposite side of my abdomen! I told the nurse to "hang on a minute I got something going on over here". She must have thought I was an idiot! Then the drain came out...... The darn thing must have been 20" long.

Welcome to the other side. Great report, sounds like things went well.

Get some rest and heal up.

whosnext, I'll pass on what these guys told me: walk. as much as you can. Put on the leg bag and walk. Keep hydrated. DON'T STRAIN

Maybe you'll have a good looking female nurse to pull your catheter...and a good story. I had a middle aged male nurse with a gray beard. Not nearly as good a story there.

...I accidentally dropped my Jackson Pratt into the toilet in hospital (it came unclipped form the gown). Then they had to pull it. Yeah, it was kinda long.

Thanks guys I'l let you know what the path is when I get it, meanwhile a good mate of mine is going in for his results from his biopsy today please lets all keep our fingers crossed He does not have to go down this road too :-( He got his checked because of my situation and scored a 8.9 psa would be very weird so I am hoping for the best for him!!
Northern lights I was like you I said go for it and I was looking away, she cleaned the area first and I thought that was it....then I felt as though my stomach was being pulled inside out, talk about squirming on the bed lol!

My surgeon's resident pulled my JP drain (does this thing have an end?) and I thought I was going to hit the ceiling, I think that was the worst part of the entire post-op experience. Like the guys said, drink lots of water, walk for a few minutes every hour; you will be amazed how much better you feel as each day passes.
