Sue, I support you and your attitude 100%. You do not have to accept a woefully inadequate standard of care. I mentioned in my email that someone was helping us find a better oncologist. He came back with some complete rubbish about
how sometimes we have to accept that people die from prostate cancer. Well Duh! I would never have guessed. They all seem to be painted with the same black brush. In the oncology/chemo area where Don gets his transfusions, the palliative doctor swans around like a fusion between the Archangel Gabriel and the Grim Reaper "helping people to die." Give me a blankety-blank break. My guy is out driving himself around, stopping off for a good lunch, and organizing reno stuff, and someone wants to help him to die? There is something seriously wrong with this system and only those who are at the wrong end of it can see it. Our guys will pass on when they pass on—as will we— and there is no stopping this. But there is absolutely no reason why we should not take every ounce of our loving hearts and brains and try to find solutions instead of accepting the status quo.
And one more comment...It's funny how, when you are fighting for a loved one, you are seen as being "in denial" isn't it?
So, Sue, carry on carrying on and know that you are respected and loved by most who post here. To all my other friends, thank you and the mod (142?) for you know what. Susan, Carol, Beth, Theresa and the guys who post, I love and care about
you all.
