Perhaps somewhat related.
It may be that there is another possible confusion that may happen with PSA test results that are reported from Quest Diagnostics.
Big Mac reported in a post this past July (see link below) that after three years of undetectable PSA test results, his January 2014 result from QD came back as "0.1" (no less than sign).
Concerned, he discussed this with his PCP who then made inquiries. The PCP then reported being told by staff at QD that "some of their machines do not go below 0.1 so that is what they show." Big Mac also reported then having a conversation with a doctor who noted that "… some labs do not test below 0.1."
So if one is getting PSA testing done at QD, and suddenly loses the "less than" sign, perhaps it would then be prudent to inquire of the testing facility, as BigMac did, about
just what it means, and whether it is only the result of a testing machine's limitations, and nothing more.
