Advice on PC surgery

I am just amazed at how much more Active Surveillance is now accepted then 3 1/2 years ago when I was diagnosed. Also over the last 3 1/2 years MPMRI's are more prevalent along with Genetic testing and MRI guided biopsies. Back in 2012 if you were younger and had a small amount of Gleason 7 you wouldn't be considered for AS, but that has changed. With research we are headed in the right direction, who knows what else will be developed over the next 3 years.

Wow! You ended up moving very quickly. Only about a month from your initial “just diagnosed” posting in mid-August to your surgery on mid-September.

I noticed your comment in your post today about feeling that you “dodged a bullet” because the post-surgery pathology tumor size. Just to put you further at ease, and to help make this point clear to other newcomers who may read this thread in the future, it is useful for you to know that even with your post-surgery pathology you would still be in the LOW-RISK category…so the notion of “dodging a bullet” seems to be overstatement.

Both your pathology and your initial experiences with recovery sound quite typical and normal for someone in the low-risk category who has elected RP.
