We celebrated Gary's 57th birthday today with son, daughter, son's gf and grandkids. This birthday marks almost 5 yrs from dx, when the uro told us to expect two or three, but not more than four yrs survival. IMO, a prognosis of survival is not helpful. Educate yourself and give it all you got! yeah

A prognosis is a medical assessment arrived at by looking at the evidence at hand.

Which does not take into account the person, the heart and spirit, sitting before them. We have plenty of evidence on this forum that's what really matters.

My husband has never been given one and we've never asked.

Happy Birthday to Gary!!!!! Hope the two of you and your family had a great time. I have found that celebrating my birthday is more important than ever. It let's me know that I made it another year and gives me something to look forward to next year.

I agree, time stamps are non productive. I would rather not have a doc tell me, although there is plenty of statistical information on the internet for my stage, gleason score etc. Even last nights presentation provided that. I do my best not to dwell though.

I so agree with you on the prognosis, I was given 3 years at Dx, I'm at 8.5 years now and all engines running. Keep up the good life . . . Q
