Update: Monday October 12th.

Wife drove me to my surgeon's office this morning. We were in and out of there in 15 minutes or less. Rather disturbed, it was like he got his money (operation) and that's was that. He took out the staples, painless for once. Checked my right side groin area closely for signs of hernias, didn't find any. Had no opinion or advice about deep pain on right side. Been hurting acutely since the day I got home from hospital last Monday.

Said he was done with me, good luck, you know the routine. Told him I still hadn't had a solid movement since prior to surgery - no answer. No change in appetite - no answer. Gave me the standard answer - well, you have been through so much down there, with the radiation damage and multiple surgeries - tough luck, got to live with it.

Funny though, prior to surgery, acting like he really cared, had me fooled. Ended up being another notch in his surgical belt. Interesting, his nurse was still really concerned about the ongoing pain issues, but not the doctor himself.

Only time will tell, if this major operation really accomplished anything or not. Meanwhile, I am still in the slow recovery mode. I am allowed to drive again (did so locally, felt weird after 2 weeks), and 20 lb. weight limit for the next month.

Kind of feel I am right back to where I started.

don't need yard help - have a first class yard man for two seasons now, but still trying to custom build some outdoor stairs for my rv property. had most of it pre-cut and figured out prior to surgery, don't know when I will be well or strong enough to finish project. 2x12 PT lumber is heavy, and custom stringers are 10 feet long. out of my strength ability at the moment. was hoping to finish before this rv season is over.

building it against an existing hill between my two lots, hardest part was calculating the correct angle to match the steps to the slope, yet end up with level steps. been pre-fabbing as much as possible, and taking sub assemblies down (40 miles each way) in my utility trailer. this is how I built the sidewalk and rear deck to our travel trailer.

David: Sorry this doc did not listen to your pleas. You would think after all you have been through there would be a lot more concern and some possible, constructive, advice. I am glad you are driving and hope and pray you are on a new mend.

So very sorry your appointment went badly, hope the pain gets better, but right sided pain might be appendix...worried about you.

David, I'm so sorry this surgeon turned into 'just another doctor'. Unfortunately many surgeons do seem to feel that once surgery is over, the patient is 'gone'. Maybe your uro or pain doctor can help. There had got to be some reason (other than just post surgery bruising and rough treatment reaction) for this pain. Prayers continue for relief and healing.

Today, a lot of mild pain where the staples were removed, kind of expected that. Woke up dizzy, nauseated, still haven't eaten a thing all day. Got that deep pain in my right side, kind of below my stoma, but hey, the doctor says nothing is wrong, so it must be my imagination.

Sorry a step forward has come with a step back as well.
I remember I felt very nauseous after my original robot surgery, adn the docs and nurses were surprised as it was rare. (They were also cross I waited all night to tell them in the morning.) They gave me some meds which made it go away really quickly (plus several spares in case it came back).
I only wish I could remember the name of the meds, I have checked my notes and found nothing.

I think it may just have been the very strong ones to prevent motion sickness, the sort that are too strong for the driver to be allowed to take.
