Hi
This finding could lead to new treatments.
Dr Pomerants is my oncologist. Will update when or if I get more information.
Best wishes to all the brothers and there families.

I was reading last night about
the latest Nobel prize awarded to the three scientists that outlined how DNA gets repaired and what goes wrong when it the repairs aren't effective. It is amazing the millions of assaults on our DNA every day of our life and the remarkable ability to self repair nearly all of them. I think this great new knowledge will contribute to better treatments and preventative methods.

It's starting to become clear that the CURE for CANCER will be based on altering its DNA one way or another, or stripping it of its ability to hide from our own immune system without producing a major Lupus or other autoimmune attack on the patients own body....It seems that most of the new and in some cases very effective treatments are moving in this direction...

'Fixing' faulty DNA in prostate cancer cells will take a long (really long) time because most prostate cancer cells have undergone a variety of mutations. Repairing one mutation may be possible in the not too distant future, but repairing a bunch of them may not be realistic for the next decade.
I see considerably more hope in immunological approaches...
