Seven years ago today

I stumbled into Healing Well PC exactly 7 years ago, on October 13th, 2007. Never would have believed that I would still be here 7 years later, accumulating nearly 25,000 posts.

It's been a godsend to me, both in trying to help others, and in seeking help, advice, and support for myself.

It is still the only PC related forum that I go to and belong to, there have been no others for me.

Still thankful for this community. Where has 7 years gone? Most of has been a long protracted fight in one form or the other. Not a single battle, but endless battles, often fighting a new one before an old one is even over. Some I have won, some I have lost, and others were stale mates. But I am still here. I am still alive.

Seven years!

Does this mean that you'll be getting the itch and darn well go and run off with some other forum.

Glad to share your journey and just wish it had been oh so much better.

Congratulations on the anniversary! A curious kind of anniversary, to be sure, but really a noble achievement, considering what you've been through and in spite of that how many you have helped by being here.

There is a story that goes around, that one hears from time to time, that goes like this.

A person has somehow been trapped by a demon, who now has the power to force the person to take a journey through hell, through all the flames, the souls in torment, the screaming, and all of it. There is an exit on the other side which will allow him to escape when he reaches it, but he must first traverse through all the terrors of hell to get there.

But then the demon says to the person, "I don't know why I'm doing this, but I'll give you a break. You will be allowed to take with you one companion, a fellow traveler, to accompany you through hell, to help you as you move along through it to the exit. Choose wisely. He must be the sort who can not only travel through the horrors of hell himself, but still have the strength of character and will to help you through it as well."

Then the question arises, what companion would the person take? Who would any of us take?

Well, David, with all that you have been through, I do believe that you would so ably serve as such a companion to anyone. As a matter of fact, you have already been doing this very thing in a way. In spite of your own situation, you still have remained here for years on this forum to assist so many others on their own journeys through the special kind of hell that is this PCa beast.

So, for that reason, I would vote for you, if I ever needed such a companion.

Really do miss you in the CP Forum, but Understand the why's of it...I hope you don't mind me posting to your thread on here in PC. You do have my many prayers and as much support as I can give...I Consider you like a brother, so stay hanging in there!

Seven years! Very encouraging to those of us still getting used to the idea of living with PC. Congrats!

You have had a most difficult seven years. My prayer for you would be that this eighth year on this unchosen journey would be a year of unremarkable experiences- no new episodes, no new difficulties, a sabbatical of pain, a remission of PC and a new uneventful season of life where you and your wife could reclaim a sense of normalcy. A gift of time that would allow for creativity, pleasure, reflection, family and service. David, you are special here, you have been and continue to be a friend to so many in need- you have been a blessing to us all. What ever this new year brings, know that we will continue to value your input and pray for your well being every time we come to the forum! Blessings dear friend.

Erm, I don't want to be the pedant in the room, but doesn't October 2007 make it 8 years?

It's been 7 years, thus the title of the thread, not sure where the 8 years came into this. It was 2008

When I picked "Purgatory", didn't realize in 2008 that it would be so prophetic. Been an endless hell that I never wake up from. Sometimes I can't tell which is real: the chronic nightmares when I do sleep, or the pained life that I live 24/7 when I am awake, which is often 20 hours day or more. Guess it doesn't really matter at this point

Happy Anniversary, David, if that makes any sense. Better than the alternative, anyway. Just curious, what's the status of your PC battle? Do you get PSAs or scans? I think the last I heard your PSA was sky high but scans didn't find anything, and anyway you had lots of other things to deal with. Is there a current plan, or just wait and see?
