Redwing, I agree with you, and in fact, after "sleeping on it" overnight, woke up this morning heavily leaning towards letting things go at this point.
I'm thinking two things that sort of bother me more than anything, is that
1. when I asked about
looking back at previous tests, to make sure the result makes sense, before reporting it, the response I got was that they don't have the systems in place to allow them to do that which "to be honest, some of our competitors do".
2. When I I till called patient services and brought to their attention the unlikelihood of this result then asked them to redo the test, they refused. But when I lodged a complaint and it went to a higher level, they did retest, and got the correct result
So what I say to myself, is that if they don't have the systems in place to do that, as an important reality check on the result of the test, then they should get rid of MyQuest 360, their patient portal, that allows patients to get the results directly, until they do have that ability. A Dr. Getting these results would immediately say this result makes no sense, and tell that to the patient. A patient , at least some patients, would figuratively be jumping off a bridge. So they should eliminate the patient portal until they get those systems in place. And if they don't do that, and a patient calls in to alert
them to an unlikely disparity, there should be a mechanism in place to retest, without going through hoops.
I'm thinking I may just express that to the Scientific Director in an email and express the hope that the idea will be brought up to a higher level.
But I think aside from that, I'm just going to keep let things go, and hope that they do enough to ensure that this was a one off, rather than a pattern
