Besides sex, sex and more sex, what should I be doing to get ready for this event? Not looking forward to the future.

The weekend before surgery, spend the day (or the whole weekend) with someone you love and go somewhere fun and/or romantic and remind yourself of the why's of your relationship.

And then eat well, sip some good wine if that's your thing, and complete your shopping list:

small bucket to carry your cath bag in.
throwaway waterproof pads for your chair
waterproof mattress pad
alcohol wipes
a selection of DVD's

and look forward to the outcome, a positive attitude makes all the difference.

Good luck to you. I had a RP three weeks ago. Back to work last week and very little incontinence problems. Just a little leakage when I sneeze or cough.

Couldn't agree more with the folks who have replied. A positive attitude does make quite a difference.

Just wishing you the best of luck. I went through it last March and although I felt pretty rough the first couple of days after the surgery, I'm pretty happy with the way everything has gone. I would echo to keep up the kegels. If you are able take a good break from work afterwards.

Good luck tomorrow, I found the biopsy to be more traumatic than the surgery. Have even more sex tonight and drive to the DR tomorrow and talk about getting some attention on the way....

In all seriousness, relax and let this happen, know that the first few days will be rough but by day 4 you will feel kinda normal. Make sure you have a recliner and treat the catheter with much care.

I was very glad that Captain Morgan was waiting for me at home when I got out after a week in stir...er, in the hospital. Him and nurse Sandy (my Labrador Retriever who checked on me about once an hour while I was on the couch for a week.) made things much more tolerable. smilewinkgrin
