This poll has had consistent results from earlier HW/PC polls asking the exact same question...the bell-shaped distribution of respondents is centered around the 56-60 year old category.

The important "asterisk" for this poll (and the earlier ones) is that this in no way represents the distribution of the men newly diagnosed in the US as a whole...that segment would be centered at the 65-70 year old category, which is clearly significantly different than the HW/PC respondents' poll. The "bias" in the HW/PC polls (or at least one of them) is that that this small sample population is a user of online social media, which tends to be younger people, while the US distribution is, of course, everyone.

While interesting, the only true conclusion of the poll is a snapshot of the age variance of posters on HW.

It's a limited and biased sample size.

Now, the interesting part of the argument could be that in general, I would make an assumption that most signing up here, are more advanced cases of PCa. So I think the more interesting question (at least to me), is PCa more aggressive based on age at diagnosis?

I have had bph for over twenty years. Have not heard that there was a direct link.

Not a direct link however symptoms can be similar which is why I didn't get a biopsy until PCa had already spread beyond prostate. Plus I was on avodart which cut PSA in half so at biopsy my PSA was really 13.2 not 6.6.

I agree that this poll is not scientific . The average age for PCa is late 60s whereas this poll shows much younger.

I can think of several reasons for that. People in their late 60's as a group are less likely to go to forums. Also, more aggressive types of PCa would tend to show up at an earlier age prompting those younger people to seek input due to the depth of their concern.

Polls in any forum tend to not be scientific due to the skewed interests of the membership.
