IMRT 33 radiation treatments....

.... And 3-4 months later my hip joints are aching more everyday.

Anyone have any experience with this?

No.

There are a ton of reasons for hips to hurt, SEs of RT would be low on the list. A visit to a good orthopedic doctor might be in order to check on causes.

The radiotherapist consultant told me that because my X-ray treatments went through left and right hips into prostate bed, that this can cause inflammation in the joints.

My GP did not know, so I thought I would ask if anyone else had that happen to them, and if it gets better over time.

Have you tried any anti-inflammatories - aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen, Celebrex?

Yes, they help but I don't want to become dependent on them, especially NSAIDs or morphine-based.

Radiation-induced inflammation is usually transient. Inflammation is worse for your overall health than taking NSAIDs. The inflammatory cytokines are released systemically and have all sorts of bad effects on other organs. Unless you have heart issues, Celebrex has fewer SEs from long-term use than most. Naproxen is convenient because it lasts 12 hours. No need for opioids.

Radiation should not result in hip pain. I would see an orthopedic doctor. Could be hips or referred back pain from herniated disc.

Check with your doc about it.
I remember hip pain. It went away, but I also took paracetamol (Tylenol in USA)
But it's often a good idea to take some pain meds so you will walk with ease, otherwise there is a risk that the pain will make you adjust the way you walk/sit/sleep etc and that can then result in back problems which will be far worse.

The naproxen recommended by Tall Allen is working mostly, except when I twist my body around without thinking sometimes.

I get random joint pains (knees and hands mostly) and it was slightly worse during RT. The radiation can setup a whole body inflammation that affects people differently.

Advil or naproxen worked well for me with few side effects. It can take a day or two for the med to reduce the inflammation.

The pills along with time are likely to take care of the problem, but if it's not getting better, see the doc. There are more powerful anti-inflammatory drugs you can take short term to help get past this point.

The advice here is great. Yes, the naproxen is working well.

I also have sold my "man's" electric bike and bought a "step through" so I can avoid swinging my leg over the saddle so much. The e-bike allows me to get some exercise but to relax when I feel too tired or sore.
