On AS with Perplexing Results

Rick, it's my understanding that prostatitis is inferred. If it responds to antibiotics, then it's prostatitis. Biopsy won't show it...unless I'm wrong on my understanding.

RickTrin, If you look at my signature our stats are very similar. My Dr. at Sloan Kettering doesn't put much weight on my rising PSA. Said it can be caused by multiple biopsies. He says since my MRI's are clean I should stay on AS.

No. Prostatis is not seen in a biopsy...at all.

toyoung, I agree, your stats look very similar to mine including more of a PSA rise coming after the biopsies and yet clean MRIs. From all I have read about the very high negative predictive value of 3T mpMRIs, I put a lot of stock in those being clean as a reason to stay on AS. I also believe multiple biopsies might be behind my rising PSA.
