Dad has reached end stage. It took only 3 months. I expect a call any time. I am okay. I am a little sad that treatment did not work. I hoped he had a little more quality time. It was not to be. I know that there are a ton of guys on here that have no idea who I am. Sorry. I haven't been around much. My dad was a great father. He deserved better. He lost the battle the day he was diagnosed.

I am so sorry you and your family are losing your dad so near the holidays. Makes it even harder. Prayers for you and your family to have the strength to hold one another close during this very sad time.

Even though I lost my own dad years ago, I still think about him almost every day. Yes, it's rough.

But we get through these things. Something that really worked for me at that time was to make my mom, who, tough as she was (and still is), and who was more badly shaken by the loss than she let on, even more special: more visits to her, more phone calls, etc. It helped me as well as it, I'm sure, helped her.

You're a very strong person, Todd, as your battle with this beast has demonstrated. I know you'll be there for your mom and for anyone else in your circle who needs it.

Prayers for your mom? Guaranteed, from this end.

It's funny but I am okay. Perhaps I am hardened by my own journey. I don't know. Currently he has no life. The man I love has been gone for months now. I am sad but it seems natural. Dad heard cancer and all the fight left him. He is a shell of the man I knew. Fragmented and defeated he has fallen to depression. The feeding tube has kept him alive to be tormented by chemo therapy. At time he has not known who he was or who we are. Dad will soon be pain free. His suffering will end and the next chapter will begin. I am at peace.

I am saddened to hear this.

It is my hope, as well as my clearly documented request to my family, to be dealt with compassionately if I ever enter a similar situation.

Sorry about your Dad Todd. I know how you must be feeling. I lost my Dad to PC in 1989. I hope you and your Mom can find peace. My prayers go out to you and your family.

There`s not a whole lot anyone can say at a time like this that will take the hurt away. I`ve been through it. I lost my mom when she was struck and killed by a car in a parking lot at age 39.I was 16. My dad died at age 72 after his 4th heart attack. I pray that you,your mom and family receive strength and courage at this difficult time.

Sorry to hear about your Dad. I recently went through it with my niece and her brain cancer and previously with my Dad's losing battle with lung cancer. It all sucks and I feel for you and your family. Take care my friend. Keep up the blog, I read it. -JR

Our prayers go out to you and your family to find that peace that you speak of. He will never really be gone as long as his memory shines in your eyes, in your heart and in your soul. Thank you for introducing me (and us)to him in you blog. Remember you inherit his strength. Hold your Mom a little tighter now as others have suggested. As we are all born to die, know that he for sure has made a wonderful family and he is travelling a well lived path and journey. Prayers going up to heaven for you all. Stay strong..
