PSA Doubling in 3 months?

Disappointing 3 month PSA check. Second ultra sensitive in a row, but this one's still small but doubled: Sept .02, Nov .04.

Doc implied this was the second increase in a row, and a third in Feb 2016 would be trouble and require a doubling time and talk about hormones. If it was undetectable twice on a non sensitive assay, then .02 then .04, I see this as only one increase. Am I wrong?

Any advice?

Just heading out for work,so just a quick reply, my PSA has been jumping around for the last two plus years after surgery RT and ADT my last teas Was 0.04 before that 0.01, 0.03 < 0.01 with such low numbers I I wouldn't get to concerned, these tests at such low sensitivity ,will drive you nuts. Try not to rush into anything just keep track of the up ticks. Happy Thanksgiving from Canada.

At those very low values it can just be noise, so I wouldn't start to worry yet.

For example, last month I had a regular PSA and it was 0.2 after having 2 years of 0.1. So I started salvage radiation, but the day of my first treatment I stopped at Quest to get an ultra sensitive PSA test,and it came in at 0.12.

I'm wondering if you might have dropped decimal place in your earlier test results early on.

then your doc is right, you've had two increases. if it were me I'd wait two months then retest, then if it's a third increase then unfortunately you have to assume a recurrence and treat accordingly.

if your results were as stated:

.02
.04
I would wonder whether you changed labs or the lab made a mistake since it's unusual for a lab to put a less-than sign in front of a given value and then report a lower value next time without the less than sign. but if there's no error then I'd agree with others who've posted that you only have one increase so far. Still I'd retest at two months intervals until it's clear what's going on.
