Hello -

I'm a long time 'lurker' and just figured it'd be good to post and say "Hello"! You folks have been a world of help for me as I've bounced along this road. I appreciate all the info/help, and you didn't even know you were doing it. (I bet there are many more out there like me!)

I'm and avid Adventure Motorcycle rider, Hunter, DIY'er and whatever else I can get into when I'm not out working as a Refinery Engineer. (Gotta keep you all supplied with gas and diesel!) Oh, and gotta get back into the CrossFit scene here shortly. For those that CF, I got my Level 1 Cert back in '09 but haven't been consistent on application. :)

Hope that my Signature shows up correctly. Dang, that took some time to edit and fit it all in there! Let me know if there's anything that looks out of line so I can fix it or explain it. :) It's been an interesting haul. I'll post more on that later.

The next part of my path is about as clear as mud, so I'll probably be checking in for advice/info from you folks.

Going for my 3rd CT/Bone Scans next Monday (Dec 7th - perfect day for it!). Last couple scans didn't show anything except an old high school football injury. So keeping my fingers crossed and post more after that!

Hi WyoHawk, Glad you came out of the shadows :) Thanks for introducing yourself and letting us know what is going on with you. Seems like you have had a lot going on the last couple of years already. Good luck on the bone scans I hope they find the culprit giving rise to the PSA. I'm sure others will come on and give you their input also. Take care.

Just adding my welcome from another G9!

Trying to follow your signature...am I correct in that your initial diagnosis was a G8, which Epstein upgraded to a G9? And then that your initial surgery pathology was a G7 (which would be odd considering your biopsy), but then that was changed to a G9? If so, that must have been a bit of a roller coaster.

Good luck with the scans--looks like you've got your work cut out for you, but I never cease to be amazed at how well many here do when they've been dealt a tough hand. Glad to see you're so active...I could learn a thing or two from your post.

Welcome to posting mode. So sorry to see the rise in PSA, but as you know, there are a lot of tx options once you get the scan results and know what you are dealing with. Sounds like you and Todd have similar dx and are similar age and similar lifestyle. It sucks that you guys are dealing with this so young, but your attitude and perseverance is so inspirational that it's great to see you also sharing your story so that other young men will see that PCa doesn't have to be the end of living life to the fullest. Good job!

Mr. Toads wild ride is what you are on. You have a lot going on right now and it would be a good idea to get a referral to a radiation oncologist and a medical oncologist sooner rather than later. I have the same thing going on with me too, although at diagnosis my PSA was much higher. Scans don't usually show anything with a PSA at that level but with your current activity they may. What a complete roller coaster with the pathology and the Gleason scores!!

Hopefully, the scans will come up negative again, and you have no mets.

I echo what Almost a 10 suggests...if you don't already, I would be looking for an ocologist who specializes in PCa, be it medical or radiation. Based on being a G9, you need to take the bull by the horns and become aggressive, as it looks like it's being aggressive!

Welcome from another 9 in a similar swamp. I got scans at Sand Lake Imaging in Orlando where they finally found the culprits: two suspicious iliac nodes. So I'm having all pelvic nodes radiated. This is typical path of PCa for Gleason 9s. All I can say is that the fight is lifelong. Btw I used to dirt bike in a former life. Loved it. Not much energy anymore while on ADT and radiation. Hopefully I'll be active again in awhile.

Hey Folks-

Thanks for the thoughts and comments.

I have a pretty good team of docs that I'm working with. The urologist that did the RALP is still on the case and watching, the radiation oncologist that did the SRT still comments and is ready for any follow-up. My medical oncologist works primarily with PCA folks and we consult with another PCA specialist down in Denver. On top of that, I'm blessed to have an uncle who is a Johns Hopkins/Harvard trained doc. Being a ChemE myself, I've got lots of charts and graphs of my 'progress'. :)

Michael_T - Yep, my pathology has been read all over the place and I've come to believe there is much more art to that subject than science. I do believe the G9 score given that my recurrence from RALP and SRT were both pretty quick and my PSADT has been pretty darn quick as well.

10 - I had to look up the Wild Ride reference. Never been to Walt's place, but it looks like fun!
