Well, it's been 9 months now since the Orchie and all is well! This months PSA came in at <0.01, can't complain! (changed labs which probably explains the slight drop)

WOW! That's impressive! I may need to just get rid of those testis, don't really have much use for them these days anyway!

Doug! I've been wondering how you were doing. Good to hear from you and glad to know your PSA is at sub-atomic levels.

Scratch them all the time! Moved this summer and have been pretty busy, doing pretty well!

Great info about something I've been fearful of even considering. I'm not well versed on all the details of pc but it helps to read candid comments about this subject. Obviously just starting my journey but developing a healthy respect for the guys who have been here dealing with the tough subjects.

I meant to ask: how have your negative SEs been(positive SE being way low PSA), and how do those SEs compare to drugs(chemical castration)?

10, no other drugs except clonodine for the hot flashes, scans will be as required once the PSA starts to rise.

Billy, I would say SE's are about the same or maybe a little less going by what others are reporting. Two positive ones are no need for deodorant and the hair on my head is noticeably thicker, much thicker.

When I was on HT, my hair also was thicker and wavier. That was an SE (more positive than negative in my case) that I don't think I ever saw reported...

Great news Doug. While your situation is different from mine, I know you as someone who was diagnosed and treated around the same time as me, and so we are in a sense, kindred spirits. So glad to hear that things are working out for you.

Howdy all! Just a quick update at 12 mos out from Orchie. PSA remains at <0.01. As a "preemptive strike" I started Taxotere last month and am doing 6 treatments at 3 week intervals. I wanted to see how well I would tolerate chemo while I was relatively "healthy" and so far so good. One thing I have noticed is the Prednisone that I'm on has boosted my energy levels considerably.

So, all in all, things aren't too bad!

Fantastic news. I wish everyone with multiple mets could hear about your experience taking Taxotere. I've run into several men who are afraid to take it in spite of the convincing evidence of how beneficial it is if taken early.
