We are back from Brisbane following the PSMA Pet CT scan. The procedure was just as others described it, and all went smoothly. Of course, later as soon as the clinic was out of sight, I quickly opened the envelope with the scans....right across the part where it says "to be opened by referring specialist ONLY". (Do they REALLY think people don't open the envelopes?????)
I can see why the cost is so high. We were given a whole spirex bound book, complete with lots of glossy colour photos and pictures, plus a movie of the whole event. Alas though, no legend to explain the different colours, so it was a long wait to see specialist next day.
His news was good. Everything looked normal. Phew!!!
The only point made on the report is the finding of two bone islands at the base of the vertebrae. These of course may have been there for ages and ages, but report did state that although these bone islands did not show any colour (colour would have been indicative of mets), it was recommended that this area continued to be monitored.
That's good enough news for me. I asked what was driving the psa numbers up quickly, and specialist just shrugged. Its a wait and see game.
We had many drinks to celebrate and were very pleased to fly back home shortly after. And then to top off a lousy week, we have just been drenched with the best, wettest, loveliest gift of all - rain!!! I had almost forgotten what it looked like. I had bought a new car many months ago, and realized that I had not yet used the windshield wipers. So good news all round. Next round of testing in four months.
cheers.
