Has anyone been here for Salvage Radiation treatment ?

Had a consult from Dr Goldsmith, Radiation Oncologist from the link above.

1. He is aware of discussions in the medical community with ultra-sensitive PSA tests. With my situation, he isn't confident with relying on anything below .1, my urologist feels the same.

2. Continue to monitor PSA every 3 months. DEC 2015 PSA 0.08

3. If PSA passes .1 and trending upwards, a 3 coil MRI will be done to identify a suspected area.

4. If a suspected area is found, a biopsy will be done to identify as cancer or benign. He said surgeons sometimes leave a little around the apex to improve continence.

5. If cancer, recommends a consult with a Medical Oncologist also, to explore all options and pro/con of each before deciding. He also said, treatment options are moving at a fast pace, and options will be offered a year from now not offered today.

Sounds like you have a good plan in place, but more importantly, YOU are staying on top of it!
Best wishes that you don't need to go beyond step 2.

Thanks, yes "maybe" step #3 won't come, time will tell.

Reading your husbands situation (and many others) I am
quickly humbled, and feel that I belong at the kiddies table.

Best of luck to you, and it's great seeing you be so proactive, and an advocate for your own health. If more men understood this approach, and adopted it, we'd all be in a much better place!!

What Jordan said. He and Gary are in similar situations, with Gary several years ahead, but the race we are all in, I think, is to try to help others not ever get to stage 4 by early detection and good tx, and to support others who are in the same boat. How this beast affects us varies from one to another, but it's the same beast.
Gary and I often talk about how people think of him as "that guy"; as in, "I wouldn't want to be that guy". Its funny though, that there are so many opportunities for him to say "I sure wouldn't want to be that guy!"
No one wants to be at this table, no one deserves it, but it sure helps that we are here together!
If there is someone going this alone, I wouldn't want to be that guy!

Both your points are well taken, no offense was intended.
The collective journeys here is a sea of knowledge.
Helping those to cope, and on choosing an educated wise path, is invaluable.
And yes, it's a tremendous help that we are all here together.

No offense taken at all! Just the opposite. I really value the camaraderie, friendships and collective knowledge of the members here. Our similar wicked sense of humor is a welcome diversion from the sober reality of PCa too'. Thanks for being here!

As Beth said....no offense at all. I just like pointing out we are ALL in this together...no one better or worse...well at least in the diagnosis. Again, as Beth said, some of us are a hell of a lot funnier than others...but we'll let you figure that out on your own.
