Btw, I agree the drain pull was really really weird. I found the cath pull to actually be much less weird, and easier. FWIW

Hey KRG: Ditto. My wife(we are both advanced practice RNs) let the air out of the cath bulb but for some odd reason did not want to pull it, so I pulled my own with her cheering me on! smilewinkgrin Very strange for sure, but no actual pain or even real discomfort. My drain had to stay in longer than the catheter, a good 2 or 3 weeks total, it took that long for the drainage to finally get low enough. My wife did pull that for me after removing the stitches, and it was stuck! shocked Thought for a minute I was going to have to get down to the URO's office. But I had her continue on with some stronger tugs, and it finally popped out. A bit scary, but once again no actual pain.

Good to hear you appear to be progressing quite normally!

Day 7 post opp. Got the cath out today and WOW! Nurse tugged and said wow that's a long one and I know she wasn't talking about penis lol. I guess now is when I will have to start getting adjusted to a life with diapers and boner pills. I will take it. Practicing my kegals and I am sure it's different for everyone but it seems like today I pretty much have little control over my urine. Have a blessed day everyone!

That is great news. In a few days, you will feel like a new man. I had my cath pulled on a Friday and went back to work on a Tuesday and have never looked back.

Be patient on the urine control Its gonna be two steps forward, one step back. But you'll make progress, and highly likely you'll be dry before you know it

Day 15 post opp. I went back to work part time last week. I work in a auto glass warehouse so there wasn't a bunch I could do but paperwork and pull some smaller parts. Going back full time starting tomorrow. I feel pretty good just need to remember to take it slow. I am still struggling with my urine control since the cath came out on 2-6. Seems I have one good day and then one bad. Started on a 60mg viagra regiment last Wednesday. Take them Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Wednesday felt nothing Friday I would say I got about a 50% erection. I think even if I had gotten a useable one I probably wouldn't use it because it seems to soon. Post opp PSA is scheduled for first week of March. Not nervous yet but I am sure I will be soon enough. I told my wife today that I feel like a male dog and if I wanted to I could piss on every bush or tree in the forest. She laughed. Seems my urine is never ending! Anyway have a happy valentines everyone!

I went back to work on day 20, and it was really too early. It took at least 2-3 weeks after I went back to work to really feel like I was productive. With good co-workers and a good plan to ease back in, you'll get through it. Being around your co-workers is important--at least it was to me. So many of the guys came by to check up on me and opened themselves for conversation, it was really a good thing.

I am glad all is progressing well. The drain was the worse part for me - when it came out. Catheter was actually easy.

I am 18 months out and just got a ZERO. I was back to running 3 miles 3 weeks after surgery - a slow pace but it worked. Continued wishes for a speedy recovery. It gets better every day!
