Tomorrow I celebrate month number 116 since my diagnosis of stage 4 prostate cancer. My PSA from yesterday remains at >0.05. I may have used the wrong arrow but
It is meant to mean less than. 116 months ago tomorrow my PSA stood at 3216.27. My lungs looked much like Chester cheetah. I had a mass growing out of my prostate and into my bladder. My prostate was enormous. I had bone metastasis in in my pelvic and hips. I had multiple cancerous lymph nodes. I was sick and not expected to live a year.
Currently my scans are clear. I have never had chemo therapy other than oral chemo such as casodex and Zytiga.
My girlfriend married me a year after my diagnosis. I promised her 30 years on our wedding day. I am almost a third of the way there. I continue to astonish my medical team. Despite having virtually zero testosterone I have regained moderate Libido and function.
I am terminal???? More likely chronic. I think I will begin adding items to my bucket list. Maybe ride a bull named fu man chew.

Since my diagnosis...you have always been an inspiration to me. Best of luck on your continued journey... but why stop at just 20 more years? Give her 30...maybe even 40 more! she's worth it i'm sure..

Oh yes she is. I hear you. At the time of my DX. 30 years seemed like a stretch. I like your blog btw.
I turned 52 a couple months ago. I have had prostate cancer 20% of my life. Cancer still is the best thing to ever happen to me. Thank you for being here. You also inspire!!!

Thanks for the update! I'm so very happy for you and your family. I know you're thankful to God for keeping you these past 116 months!

Growing up in church (my dad was the pastor), as kids, we used to sing this song: This Little Light Of Mine, I'm Going To Let It Shine! You've let your Light Shine around the World so that others may be blessed!

For sure! So no RT or surgery, is that right? Just ADT with various drugs? Truly spectacular! (heck, spectacular even if there was surgery and RT for that matter)

Hi Bob,
Yep...... Surgery was out of the question. My urologist said my prostate was too big. Radiation made no sense as the cancer was spread out everywhere. After Lupron failed I did Provenge and 2 years later started Zytiga. Life is good good good.

Lieutenant you flatter me. I will keep fighting for sure.

Dear Todd ---

You have certainly lived a "story filled with glory" --- beyond all words to describe --- and I'm sure beyond all your original expectations --- you have defied the odds --- gone far beyond all expectations of your doctors --- and lived to tell the tale ---

My doctors just smile. Prostate cancer has taken me across the country sharing my story. Pretty good for a guy who thought the only way out of methamphetamine addiction was suicide. I tried that 9 months before my diagnosis.
Tried to kill myself, survived, got clean, got sick, told I would die, survived, changed my life, livin life out loud. Every day is a bonus.

Todd, sometimes, when i think about what i went through last year, it overwhelms me. Then i read one of your posts and think about your journey, and i feel small.
When i was first diagnosed, in November of 2014 and was terrified, i came across your story, and it gave me hope, and the ability to pull myself together and get to the job at hand.

Hey Todd,
I don't know if you're aware that whenever a scared stage 4 newbie with mets comes along, someone always says "go read Todd's story". You personify HOPE for all newly diagnosed PCa brothers. And you do it with humility and grace.
You may also be aware that meth is one of the hardest drugs to kick, and if you are able, it often leaves you with a permanent brain imbalance.
You are an inspiration on two fronts!
Love your blog. Love your story.

Todd, my "battle Brother'
Thanks for that great post. You continue to amaze, and indeed as your new favorite song says, "your love never fails." We sing that song often in our congregation,and I enjoy every word. The lyrics are powerful, just like the story of your journey. You have put your story out there for all these years here on HW and on your blog, and I do not think you realize how many others you have touched.

The more I learn about you, how the PC initially affected you, the more I am in wonder, how the worst of circumstances can be turned around and stood on their heads, and turned into something good. Sometimes good things happen to good people. Bad things also happen to good people, but thats beyond our control, I still always try to stay positive, and why I always say, keep the Faith! I know that you do too.

My Manager at work at a monthly meeting gave us an emotional speech today, he nearly died of a heart attack this past November. He referred to much repeated quotes, "Tomorrow is not guaranteed" take heed to live today. Enjoy the present, take time for your family. No truer words are there.
Onward for you, past 10 years, and many ,many more to come.
