Hey Jaybee_007
Whats your approach, care to share, or even email me? Just Diet, or exercise and supplements? Do you have a thread somewhere I could read?
I have read some about green tea and lipid absorption, but not enough to outweigh the multiple benefits?
Also phytic acid which has some anti cancer and heart health properties, I think balance is key.
Out of respect for other members and their choices ( we all have to do as we see fit for our best interests), I am a little restrained about
fully expressing myself here, and don't want to be the odd man out too much.
However, my dietary approach is basically ketogenic, which is a high fat, low carb, moderate protein diet. The paleo diet is a ketogenic diet, but not an anticancer diet, as cavemen were big meat-eaters, and apparently liked their dairy, too. Before I had ever heard the word ketogenic, I had settled on a diet which made sense to me. Turned out it was a ketogenic diet, not paleo, but vegan ketogenic. Now that is a really, really hard diet to follow, and I had to change somewhat, on account of the extreme weight loss. Was 30 lbs overweight when I started it, am now 30 lbs underweight.
Back in September, I went full-on paleo, on account of I was doing heavy labor six days a week, and felt too weak on the stricter keto diet, and because of the kidney stones, had to alter my protein intake (meat replaced nuts for protein).
Problem with that is that, without thinking about
it (too tired at days' end), I later realized I was consuming more and more meat and dairy every day, less and less vegetables. Too much protein is not good on a keto diet, and, obviously, less veggies is not recommended.
So, in the nearly 2 years I have been dealing with the PCa, I have just about
come full circle, and am honing in on the vegan keto diet again. But it is a bear! I haven't entirely quit eating meat, but small amounts (3 oz.) some days, and not every day. Also, very small amounts of cheese. Trying to go back to vegan keto, yet one step at a time, not overly strict. Monitoring protein intake is the hardest part for me, because it is not one way or the other, you need enough, but too much defeats the whole strategy of the diet (in regard to being an anticancer diet, no problem for the paleos). Oh, and if I didn't mention it, grains are strictly verboten on the keto diet. Take meat/poultry/fish/eggs/dairy/fruit(mostly), and grains out of your diet and what is left? lol
I'm getting a little verbose here. I am curious about
your outlook, but don't want to take over this thread. Looked for your email, but found none.
