Hey y'all - undetectable PSA again!

So here I am 2-1/2 years after completion of radiation therapy, Aug 2013. Just had a PSA check today, and it's undetectable! Yes, I'm still on Lupron and Casodex, so it's really called "controlled remission" since I'm still under treatment (hormone therapy). But I'm wrapping that up too, with the "official" end of the treatment about March 23. Then we'll watch the PSA and testosterone values quarterly to make sure PSA doesn't go back up over 2.0 (per my oncologist). If it does, then there will be more fun....

I report this with tempered enthusiasm, knowing some have good status and some don't. Sometimes the good lasts, sometimes it doesn't. We feel for those facing challenging situations, and this sure isn't meant to be "boastful" as some have said before.

But as one who received a pretty alarming diagnosis (and a G9 5+4 cT3 is right up there), I want to report this as a beacon of hope. This may not last, and I'll enjoy it while it does, but for those facing rather scary odds don't give up hope.

Jerry, that is some great news. Your post is a beacon of hope for others with your stats, thanks for posting.

I am so glad to hear that your ADT is coming to an end. 3 years is a really long time. I have been around you a number of times in the last 3 years and I have to tell you that you have handled it well from all appearances. I only hope that I can handle my next round of treatment with the same dignity and positive attitude as you have.

Being a fellow G9 and just starting my journey I love your post. Knowing their is a good outcome on the other side of this crap we are going through. Keep updating and I will keep reading.

Awesome, Jerry. It's always great to hear any positive news from anyone at any stage of this disease. Since my newly found friend from Iowa; who had to face the G9 diagnosis last year, had some bad news on his recent pathology report, this positive news for a G9er is surely a beacon of hope I can share with him. Thanks for sharing....Jim

Let's hope that when you stop ADT you don't have recurrence. I'm facing the same issue this coming October. Three years on ADT2 is amazing. I'm impressed with your PSA readings.

That's great to hear this news. I know you've been waiting for it a while so it's well deserved. I hope that your T recovers quickly and other ADT side effects are quickly resolved.
As you know, many of us will be watching and waiting for good reports from you.

Congrats on the continued success! FWIW, I completed my HT almost two years ago and my PSA is still doing well (knock on everything) so here's hoping you continue to do well when you're off the sauce!

Funny, I mentioned to someone near to me about having some little PSA test butterflies, every time . Loving person says, "Well, that's because you hang out on that forum and hear about others with issues.". Thanks.

It seems those who haven't personally faced a serious cancer diagnosis just can't really comprehend it, even if they've been around it for a long time. "You're all done with treatment. You're fine. You should just forget about it.". Yep, probably, but it just doesn't work that way, does it?

That's why it's so fulfilling to be with all you fine folks here. You definitely "get it"!

Great news, Jerry.

I was on Lupron for a little over 2 years and Zytiga for 9 months before I suspended both at end of April, 2015.

Since then my PSA remains <0.01 and my T is up to a whopping 11 where low end of normal is 300.

Fortunately I have no fatigue which I attribute to massive doses of vitamin D-3 10,000 IU even though I live in sunshine state.

I hope your T rises better than mine did given that you are about 10 years younger, but that your PSA remains undetectible.

There are some old posts including one from PeterDA that project T recovery after 2-3 years of Lupron will take a long time, but like everything else PCa it varies greatly by individual.
