Follow up to bone mets treatments inquiry

Well, I have the recommendation from the oncologist. We are going to radiate the bone mets. Ten fractions for a total of 30 grays using the Varian True Beam. Scheduled for CT scans on Monday for planning purposes. Also will be looking at what can be done with the lung mets. Considering chemo with docetaxel following the radiation. The lesion on the "horse tail" at the base of my spine will also be radiated and the doctor says it is very small but has the greatest potential for damage. Medical term is Equina something or other that sounds like corona. I guess it is not important to name the alligators in the swamp when you are up to your butt in them. :)

Pain from the bone mets got pretty intense just before seeing the oncologist which was probably a blessing since I have a tendency to understate things. Don't think I have had anything hurt so badly as this and I am amazed with how rapidly it progressed from ache to stabbing pain.

This is likely to end my participation in the NIH Prostvac trial but one has to put out the fire that is burning brightest and closest to home.
