Thanks for all the kind comments, guys. Y'all are the best.
Here's a picture of the cake - not too fancy, but good enough!
i.imgur.com/MkZzbNH.jpgTall one, I'll push for the testosterone check too. I'm not sure my med onc is planning it, but I will ask for it. It will be interesting to see how the number progresses (hopefully!) each quarter. I'll be looking for the next milestone when it finally gets back above 50, at least.
Jack, you're right, we met in Dec 2013. I'd just started on HT back then. Wow, time does fly. That cruise was so timely, it still seems like just yesterday. Even though I was pretty much cabin-bound the first 3 days, it sure was fun anyway.
ISU - one reason I did it is exactly what you're mentioning. We guys are terrible about
seeing doctors, we're too tough, too macho, can't admit weakness to the tribe. Our women are so much better about
it. They talk to doctors, they talk to each other, they talk to media! That's one reason breast cancer has such a high profile even though the numbers are so similar with prostate cancer. We do need to talk to each other about
health issues, at some level. It has to be ok.
I've had a couple people come and go in my lab, so I wasn't sure how many I've mentioned my PCa to. One of the guys came up after I spoke, and thanked me for sharing my situation. He's african-american, and lost his father to PCa 6 years ago. He said he has been monitoring, and I commended him for it. PCa occurs at a higher rate the african-american demographic.
So thanks again. I feel blessed in very many ways!
