Hello Polar,
Since your doctor mentioned that there are stronger mixes of trimix I will assume you were started with what we like to call the "Watery Starter Mix" and, if that is what you are injecting then 20 units is nothing like a lot and it's way too early to get discouraged. Doctors usually start a man with a small dose and instructions to work up gradually until he finds something that works.
The reason for this is that men have a wide range of venous occlusion. The veins that drain the penis are designed to flatten from the pressure of an erection so very little blood leaves the erect penis and an erection is easier to maintain. This tends to work better for some men than others and for men where it works particularly well only a small dose of trimix is needed to create a long-lasting erection and there is a real risk of an erection that lasts too long with a dose only slightly larger because the drugs are trapped along with the blood. These are the men who wind up in the emergency room four hours after injecting just a smidge too much.
Men with poor venous occlusion have veins that don't flatten properly and the blood tends to leak out. These men need a larger dose to get a satisfactory erection that lasts long enough to do any good. They need enough of the drugs to maintain an erection even after three quarters of the drug has been washed out. In all but a few cases there will be a dose that will work for them but they often wind up needing the stronger mix your doctor mentioned.
One other thing to mention about your getting discouraged is that until your testosterone recovers from the Lupron (and it will) you may find yourself to be easily discouraged about sex. Try not to let that get inside your head. It's not you, it's the Lupron. Your mojo will come back.
